In this collection, contributors assess the conflict between postmodernism and identity, the concept which typically serves as a linchpin for social and political organizing. Others address queer theory, looking specifically at how we define it, how it informs political activism, and how we can theorize such aspects of sexual performance/behaviors as s/m or butch-femme relationships.

Great refference for all queer subjects!

This is an awesome compendium of essays surrounding the Queer theme. Even though the theory itself is not formal nor specific, this book successfully accomplishes its proposal, offering important discussion about the meaning and the gaps one might find in Queer Theory.

A must-have for the gay studies enthusiast!

Beemyn has edited an anthology of works from emerging academics who are studying gay life outside of the white, vanilla, male mode. This anthology has great articles on gay black men, Asian lesbians, biracial female sadomasochists, etc. It is a very welcome edition to my gay studies collection. I find myself citing articles from this anthology all the time. I truly recommend this book. I think gay men and lesbians of color will truly appreciate it.
